The EAW has <br />not addressed the possible impact of the sanitary landfill upon the <br />municipal well field. The Health Department is concerned about the <br />following potential impacts. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />2e <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />55 <br /> <br />What is the direction of ground water flow from the landfill? <br />Is the ground water flow toward the municipal well field, <br />and will this have an impact upon the ground water quality <br />of the municipal well field? <br /> <br />Will leachate from the landfill degrade the acquifer that <br />supplies the municipal water? <br /> <br />Will the pumping center from the municipal well field reach <br />o~t and intercept the leachate from t~e landfill? <br /> <br />Is the landfill adequately monitored to protect the municipal <br />well or give warning of any influence the landfill may have on <br />the municipal well field? <br /> <br />Does the Andover landfill waste disposal site have any <br />effect on the municipal well field's ground water quality? <br /> <br /> If you have any questions on our Department's comments, contact <br />Jim Nye of our Ground Water Quality Control Unit at 623-5339. <br /> <br />Sincerely, <br /> <br />Laura A.
