MINNESOTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY

January 2, 1986

Ms. Anne L. Norris
City Planner
City of Rameey
15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W.
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear gs. Norris:

RE: Northfork Planned Unit Development
Sections 18 and 19, T32, R25
Ramsey, Anoka County, HN
HHS File Number: X-245

Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on the above
project. It has been reviewed pursuant to responsibilities given
the State Historic Preservation Officer by the National Historic
Preservation Act of 1955 and the Procedures of the National
Advisory Council of Historic Preservation (36CFR800).

This project is currently being surveyed for archaeological sites
per the recommendation of this office. 9ne small prehistoric
sites has been identified on the southwest side of Lake Itasca.
It consists of a thin scatter of artifacts and does not appear to
be eligible for listing on the National Register. However, part
of the project area on the north side of Lake Itasca and wetlands
remains to be examined. Survey work in that area must be
completed before a final conclusion regarding this project can be
made.

If you have any questions on our review, please contact Ted
Lofstrom, Environmental Assessment Officer, Minnesota Historical
Society, Fort Shelling History Center, St. Paul, Minnesota 55111.

Thank you for your continued close attention to historic values
in your planning process.

Sincerely,

Russell W. Frtdley
State Historic Preservation Officer
