This is a draft of a resolution to be adopted February 25, Counci]member introduced the followin9 resolution and mov .... ~TI~ ~86- RESC~JTIG[~ REGARDI~ I~TEK, INC. WHEREAS; the City_of Ramsey is a Charter City located in Anoka County, Minnesota; and WHEREAS, a major regional municipal solid waste landfill is located in Ramsey which landfill is known as the Anoka Landfill; and WHEREAS, Waltek, Inc. is an industrial business located in the City of Ramsey; and W~EREAS, under the licensing authority of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (PCA) the Anoka Landfill is permitted to operate daily; and WHEREAS, the ground water beneath the Anoka Landfill site is contaminated and continued operation of the landfill daily contributes to that contamination which continued operation is pursuant to P~ rules and regulations; and WHEREAS, Waltek, Inc. is located directly south and southeasterly of the Anoka Landfill; and W~EREAS, the ground water flows in a southeasterly direction from the Anoka Landfill towards Waltek, Inc.; and WHEREAS, Waltek, Inc. is a major employer in the City of Ramsey ~uploying approximately 40 people; and WHEREAS, Waltek, Inc. is a generator of certain small quantities of hazardous waste; and WHEREAS, Waltek, Inc. has never permitted a discharge of its hazardous waste into the enviror~ent; and WHEREAS, the PCA recently cited Waltek, Inc for the manor in which it stores its hazardous waste; and WHEREAS, Waltek, Inc. when it became aware of the need to change its hazardous waste handling methods promptly complied with the P~ rules and regulations; and WHEREAS, notwithstanding that Waltek, Inc. promptly and cooperatively complied with the PCA rules and regulations Resolution ~86-
