hLPOh3 FhO)i THE CITiI' OF )~AMSEY CEId£'~L~¥ CONHITTEE The Cemetery Committee, by the direction of the City Council, bas been mearchlng out options for a new cemetery site in the City of ~amsey since ~amsey and the Anoka area are becoming filled. Cemetery Committee met on February 1, 1986, with Bob Sylvester and Pastor Dale Olson of Cross of Hope Lutheran Church. Cross of Hope owns the 10 acre parcel marked "A" and attached)· (See Nember/s from Cross of Hope have purchased the 10 acre parcel adjacent to Cross of Hope ("C" and "D"). Both 10 acre parcels are divided in the middle by the power line with ~ 200' easement· There are approximately ~ acres of buildable land in each of the ~ - halves since the power line ezse~,ent can only be used for parking. (See drawing) The South half parcels ("B" and "D") are bordered by a row of trees on the North and South edges. (See drawing) 7. Approximately 770 grave sites are possible for an acre of land. ~ P}~OPOSED: (1) (e) City of Ramsay purchase adjacent site. ("C" and "D") City of Ramsay make an exchange: ~ Cross of Hope will give the City the South 5 acres of land ~ City of Ramsay will give Cross of Hope the North parcel of the adjacent parcel ("C"). * In this way, the South half ("B" amd "D") would be owned by the City for the purpose of a cemetery. (10 acres) 1. The cemetery would haYea natural border with the trees and not be so visible to the neighborhood. 2. Cross of Hope intends to develop a park, ball diamonds, ere. using the adlacent parcel ("C") for the community use. 3. The land for the cemetery ("B" and "D") is very suitable for developing a cemetery. If there are feelings that the City should not be in the cemetery business and believe that the private sector could develop and maintain it more economically, would the City of Ramsay make a road using the easement on the East border of Cross of Hope parcel since this is a major expense for developing a cemetery by the private sector? This would enable Cross of Hope to develop a cemetery for DDbl~c purchase of grave sites. A decision must be ~ade by May 1, 1986, since Cross of Hope needs to act on the adjacent parcel's purchase.
