February 18, 1986 <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Miller <br />Waste Management of Minnesota <br />P O Box 67 <br />Anoka, MN 55303 <br /> <br />RE: Fire safety survey of landfill facilities. <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Miller: <br /> <br />The following report is the results of findings of a fire safety survey of <br />your facility conducted on January 31, 1986. <br /> <br />Recommend raising "Exit" and "Fire Extinguisher" indicator signs <br />to a higher position in your shop, to be readily identifiable <br />from any location across the room, pursuant to NFPA 10, sec. 1-6.5. <br /> <br />Relocate the fire extinguisher in the employee lounge to a <br />location near the escape route from this area, pursuant to NFPA <br />10, sec. 1-6.3. <br /> <br />3. Relocate, or provide an approved heat shield for the space heater <br /> in the employee lavatory, pursuant to M.U.F.C., sec. 11.404(d). <br /> <br />0 <br /> <br />Provide protection from physical damage for the metallic pipe <br />line from the L.P. tank at the north end of the building, pur- <br />suant to NFPA 58, sec. 3-2.7.6. <br /> <br />Provide a minimum of 18" clearance to combustibles around the <br />furnace and hot water heater in the office area, pursuant to <br />M.U.F.C., sec. 11.404(d). <br /> <br />6. Post "NO SMOKING" signs on the exterior of the methane shed, <br /> pursuant to M.U.F.C., sec. 13.101. <br /> <br />The "No Smoking" warning~already posted by the parts cleaning <br />tank should be expanded to include prohibition of any welding <br />or open flame during parts cleaning operation, pursuant to <br />M.U.F.C., sec. 49.107(k). <br /> <br /> Rebec t f ul~, ¢"~) ~ <br /> <br />"-D~gl~ E.
