City CouncS1 Of Ramsey Minnesota
]5]53 Nowthen Blvd NW
Ramsey, Minnesota 55303
Attn : CITY COUNCIL

I
I
!
I
I
i
I

Gentlemen:

I wasn't at the meeting but I read an account of it in

our local paper. The waste manaoement corporation came to

the meeting to explain their vertical expansion program. Their
program would make the landfill higher allowing them to put
steeper slopes on the site and make it more contamination proof.
It is my understanding that it would be in their best interest
to make the landfill as contamination proof as possible.

I think they could move the material on top of the landfill

to create the slopes they mentioned in the new plan without
vertical expansion. They could also put on the proposed cap
to stop water infiltation without a vertical expansion.

I feel that it would be a sound financial investment for them
to act responsibly in preventing contamination in as much
as they will be held responsible for any contamination.

My other desire regarding the landfill is that the City of
Ramsey engages in viaorous neoociations with Waste Management
Corporation to have the landfill site prepared so that it
can, in the future, somehow can increase the tax base in Ramsey.
I don't want it to be forever a blight. In other cities in
the United States they even build on top of landfills. If
that isn't possible, an agreement could be entered into now
that the site will be made into to a park of some sort. I
feel that Waste Management should do the improvements to the
site to make it useable as a park as a minimum to repay the

City of Ramsey for the landfills mountainous, less that
appealing presence.
