R FOIl PRO¥IDING 1986 FIRE PROTECTION FOR THE CI1~ OF RAHSI~f By: Noel Graczyk, Finance Officer C~E ~ 20 Background: Fire protection services for the City of Ramsey have been provided in the past by contract with the City of Elk River and the City of Anoka. These contracts usually are for a period of one year. At the present time, the City of Elk River has submitted the 1986 fire contract to the City of Ramsey. By agreement, the City of Elk River provides fire protection for i~ of the City of Ramsey and the City of Anoka provides protection to the remaining 82% of the City. The cost of the fire contract to either City is based on the percentage of the City's assessed value covered by the fire department times one mill. Enclosed is a letter and proposed fire contract from the City of Elk River. Observations: The proposed contract with the City of Elk River for 1986 fire protection is consistent with the contracts in prior years. The cost of the contract for 1986 has been calculated in accordance with the formula based on the 18% coverage. The total cost for the contract is $8,748.60. Rec~endation: It is recommended that the City Council move to authorize the Mayor to sign the contract to enter into the agreement between the City of Ramsey and the City of Elk River to provide fire protection. Council Action: Motion to: Authorize the City of Ramsey to enter into an agreement and that the Mayor sign said agreement providing fire protection for the City of Ramsey with the City of Elk River for 1986.
