The ex]sting drop-off sites are currently in operation. City advertising of these sites would corr~ence in early 1986. All revenues fra~ this will go to the youth organization operating the prograr. Based on projected collections of 39 tons of total recyclable collected, the City will receive $ 156.00 fro~ Metropolitan Council's $ 4.00 per ton of recyclables progra/r. Assu~ing Rarsey is Fade up of predor, inantly rural residential households, based on Metropolitan Council statistics, Ra~sey residents generate approximately 2 pounds of landfilled refuse per day. Based on Ra~sey's population of 10,860 (April 1984 Metropolitan Council estiFate), RaL~sey's annual residential refuse generation is 7,927,800 pounds (10,860 residents x 2 pounds/resident/day x 365 days/year) or approxiFately 3,964 tons. Approximately 5% (based on Metropolitan Council estiFates) of the total refuse, or 396,390 pouncls (198 tons), is recyclahle glass containers. Assu~.ing 7% participation in a drop-off recycling prograr, the City would collect 27,747 pounds (14 tons) of glass ~ater ials annually.
