SEY IA/~FII.,L NSA~ ~ - ~~<, 1985 ~he City of Ra~sey is proposing a landfill at~te~ent plan that involves source separation of certain residential refuse and the collection of certain recyclable ~ateria!s. The City is proposing to operate a central drop-off site for the collection of glass containers in addition to existing drop-off sites for the oollection of other ~aterials. The City is also proposing to pro~ote the existing drop-off sites operated by local civic organizations for other recyclable residential waste ~aterials. The Ra~'sey Landfill Ad Hoc Committee (appointed by the Ra~sey City Council) is pursuing information regarding the establish]rent of: a city-wide co, posting site for yard wastes; a hazardous household waste collection facility; education; curb-side pick- up; ocm~urdty clean-up days; and a used oil collection facility for inclusion in the comprehensive city-wide abatement progra~r. The Landfill Ad Boc Co~r~rittee is also looking into the possibility of hiring a consultant to assist in the forFu/ation and i~pleFentation of a comprehensive city-wide recycling progr~. _Type_ of Recycling The City is proposing to begin collection of recyclable glass oontainers fro~ residential refuse including green, brcwn, and clear containers. Also, presently o~erating drop-off sites will accept residential r~=ws~per and al~inu~ and ferrous scrap. Location o£ Drop-off Sites %/ne City's drop-off site for glass containers would be located in the parking lot of the Ra~sey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W. Glass would be dropped off at certain ti~es when the site would be ~onitored; proposed ti~es are two Saturdays a r~onth frc~ April through October and one Saturday a month fro~ Noverber through March. The site would be ~onitored by a psrticipating Ra~sey youth organization (a local 4-H group has expressed interest in this). Other drop-off sites include a Jaycee-operated drop-off site for ~wspaper, alurinu~ and ferrous scraps at the Landfill (this is a fairly ne~' project; until the Landfill sees what kind of participation it 9ets, it is hesitant to expand the scope of Faterials oollected); a Boy Scout-operated drop-off site for ne%.spaper at a local grocery store; and an Anoka School Band-operated drot>-off site for ne%~spapers at the Anoka County Fairgrounds.
