Minutes CASE ~2~: APPOINTMENT OF CITY COUNCIl. MEMBER TO SERVE ON ECONOMIC DI~ELOPMENT COMMISSION S~BCOMNITTEE ~EGA~ING BUSINESS INCUBATOR FACILITY By: Anus Norris, Coumanity Development Director Background: As you rosy know, the City of Anoka has hired a consultant to complete a study on the feasibility of establishing a small business incubator facility in the Anoka area. The report included a study of whether the market would support such a facility and if so, several possible sites for the facility. The report found that the market would be favorable for a business incubator facility. The report also noted that one of the preferred sites for this facility would be the l~ovar building in Ramsey. No decisions have been made on the project, but the findings and the report prompted the Anoka Economic Development Commission to meet with the Ramsey Economic Development Commission to discuss the possibility of a joint venture by the two communities in a business incubator facility. At a joint meeting of the Anoka and Ramsey Economic Development Commissions on Nay 22, 1986, it was decided that a committee should be established to review the proposal before making any final recommendations to the Councils. The committee would be composed of three members of each Economic Development Commission, one Councilmember from each community, and Staff from both communities. Observations: This project appears to meet economic development goals for both Ramsey and Anoka. Also, the project offers an opportunity to start working together with Anoka on common community goals. Recommendation: Council Action: ~r ~ (! / / Motion to: .~ .
