5 Minutes CASE ~?:

DRAINAGE PROBLEM IN HALL-ANDERSON ACRES
By: Pete Raatikka, City Engineer

Background:

At the public hearing on May 29, 1986 regarding storm sewer taxing districts,
Mrs. Pat B~ch presented a petition requesting the correction of a water problem
on property at 5940 - 159th Lane NW (Lot 6, Block 5, Hall-Anderson Acres).

Her basement level was constructed at or near the current water level of the
pond on Lots 1 and 2, Block 6. The existing overflow pipe on Osium Street NW
is several feet too high to maintain the pond level below her basement level.
We have checked elevations of County Ditch No. 66 and 3 and found there would
be adequate grade to lower the water level in the pond by installing a storm
sewer under Osium Street NW and clearing out the private ditch that flows into
County Ditch No. 66 and 3.

Included in the reference material are the following items for your information:

a) Half section map showing the location of Mrs. Pat Bach's house, the
pond, and the existing ditches
b) Proposed resolution ordering a feasibility study

Recommendation:

I would recommend that the Council adopt the proposed resolution ordering a
feasibility to determine the cost of the improvement and review methods of

financing.

Council Action:

Motion to:
Adopt Resolution #86-

authorizing the City Engineer to prepare a

feasibility study for correcting the drainage problem in Hall-Anderson
Acres.

Review Checklist:

Administrator
Attorney
Engineer
Community Development Dir.

X

X

Chief of Police
Finance Officer
Public Works Superintendent
Other
