Count i 1 memb er <br />adoption: <br /> <br /> /Y <br />introduced the following resolution and ~oved for its <br /> <br />RESOLUTION $86- <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ENDORSING 1RE EFFORTS OF IRE NORTH METRO TRAFFIC TASK <br />FORCE SUPPORTING CONCLUSIONS OF THE TASK FORCE REGARDING ADDITIONAL <br />RIVER CROSSING CAFACITY NEEDS IN IRE NORTH METRO AREA, AND REQUESTING <br />A COMHITHENT OF RESOURCES FROH IRE STATE OF MINNESOTA AND THE <br /> METROPOLITAN COUNCIL TO IHPLEHENT RESPONSES TO IDENTIFIED ]FIVER <br /> CROSSING NEEDS IN IRE NORTH METRO AREA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the long standing need for additional river bridges is a critical <br />issue for the Counties and Cities adjacent to the Mississippi River in the <br />North Metro area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the North Metro Traffic Task Force composed of elected and <br />appointed officials from the Metropolitan Council, Anoka and Hennepin Counties, <br />and the cities of Andover, Anoka, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, <br />Coon Rapids, Dayton, Fridley and Ramsey was established to serve as as forum to <br />study and discuss relevant issues associated with river bridges in the North <br />Metro area, to establish a basis for coordination of transportation planning <br />activities among affected jurisdictions, and to facilitate achievement of <br />consensus among member jurisdictions on appropriate alternatives to meet <br />identified bridge needs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the North Metro Traffic Task Force has appointed a Technical <br />Subcommittee to evaluate the need for additional river bridge crossings to <br />serve the North Metro area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the North Metro Traffic Task Force has accepted and endorsed the <br />recommendations of their Technical Subcommittee regarding identified short term <br />improvements to existing facilities and long term needs for additional river <br />crossing capacity and potential alternatives to satisfy long and short term <br />bridge crossing needs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the North Metro Traffic Task Force has concluded that local <br />communities, State of Minnesota and Metropolitan Council cooperation, <br />assistance and funding is essential to specifically define short term <br />deficiencies and construct appropriate long term bridge crossings to serve the <br />important, unmet needs of the North Metro area and that this support should <br />legitimately receive priority relative to other transportation studies and <br />construction of other transporation system improvements in the Metropolitan <br />area. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFOILE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br />COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />That the City of Ramsey strongly supports and concurs with the <br />conclusions of the North Metro Traffic Task Force that additional <br />bridge crossing capacity is urgently needed to serve the short and <br />long term transportation system needs of the North Metro area. <br /> <br /> <br />
