immediately notify the Owner. Indicators of potentially contaminated soil, groundwater or surface water <br /> include: <br /> • Odor including gasoline,diesel,creosote,mothballs,or other chemical-like odor <br /> • Soil-stained green or black,or with dark,oily appearance,or any unusual soil color or texture <br /> • A rainbow color(sheen)on surface of water or soil <br /> B. If encountered, the Contractor shall allow a minimum of 72 hours for the Owner to investigate the potential <br /> contamination and determine the necessary steps for remediation and/or removal,if any. <br /> C. Upon request, if contaminated soil is unexpectedly encountered and confirmed by the Owner's Environmental <br /> Consultant,the Contractor shall stockpile the contaminated soil on 6-mil polyethylene sheeting and cover with <br /> 6-mil polyethylene sheeting that is secured in place and bermed to prevent run on/run-off. This work shall be <br /> completed for an additional negotiated price or in the event that the cost cannot be mutually agreed upon the <br /> Contractor's fee shall be determined in accordance with Paragraph 12.01.C.of the Standard General Conditions <br /> of the contract. <br /> D. If necessary, the Owner may negotiate with the Contractor to determine a mutually agreed upon price for <br /> removal and/or remediation of contaminated soil,contaminated water and/or buried waste. If no such price can <br /> be mutually agreed upon,the Contractor shall allow the Owner engage the services of a third party to perform <br /> the necessary removal and/or remediation and no additional compensation will be due to the Contractor <br /> provided that it does not significantly affect the progress of the work. <br /> 3.07 SITE RESTORATION <br /> A. After completion of demolition and removal,the site shall be restored to a safe,stable condition. <br /> B. Depressions from all removals shall be backfilled, compacted and graded using on-site soils as fill material in <br /> accordance with Section 3122 00. <br /> C. Final graded slopes shall not exceed 3h:Iv. <br /> D. Vegetation shall be established according to Section 32 92 00. <br /> 3.08 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT <br /> A. Building Demolition and Removal including removal of all interior and exterior materials, footings, all <br /> pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks,parking lot lights, sanitary sewer service pipe, water service pipe, storm <br /> sewer pipe,signs and foundations,flag pole and base,trees and other items as described above will be measured <br /> as a single lump sum quantity. <br /> 3.09 METHOD OF PAYMENT <br /> A. Payment for the Building Demolition and Removal item at the Contract lump sum price shall be compensation <br /> for all costs of the work described above. <br /> Payment will be made on the basis of the following schedule: <br /> Item Unit <br /> Building Demolition and Removal Lump Sum <br /> END OF SECTION <br /> Division 2—Existing Conditions <br /> DV2-3 <br />
