D. The Contractor, in its sole discretion, shall determine if the remaining asbestos containing material proposed to <br /> be removed under this Contract is subject to applicable laws and regulations for asbestos-related work as <br /> defined in Minnesota Statutes 326.71. If applicable, the asbestos-related work shall be performed by a <br /> Contractor or Sub-Contractor licensed or certified by the commissioner under Minnesota Statutes sections <br /> 326.70 to 326.81 and the Contractor shall provide a copy of that license or certification to the Owner. Further, <br /> if applicable, the Contractor shall prepare a project-specific asbestos project plan in accordance with all <br /> applicable laws and regulations and adhere to said plan. The Contractor is responsible for paying any permit <br /> fees associated with asbestos abatement,if determined necessary. <br /> E. The Ramsey Community sign located at the Nowthen Boulevard entrance, and all its foundations,footings and <br /> appurtenances,shall be removed. <br /> F. If on-site crushing of the demolished building materials is proposed,the Contractor must submit a crushing plan <br /> to the City for review and approval in accordance with Section 01 33 00. <br /> 3.02 REMOVAL <br /> A. The Contractor shall completely remove the buildings and all of their internal and external components, <br /> including steps, stoops, sidewalks, floors and footings. The Contractor shall also remove the parking lots, <br /> concrete curb and gutter, trees, bushes, driveways, signs and foundations, flag poles and foundations, and <br /> parking lot lights and all other miscellaneous site improvements as discussed herein and as shown on the plans. <br /> 3.03 UTILITIES <br /> A. Telephone, electric power and other wire services, and gas service pipes will be disconnected by the utility <br /> owners outside the buildings and all fixtures belonging to such utility companies will be removed by them. <br /> Contractor shall remove all other piping and fixtures. <br /> B. Remove sanitary sewer service pipe, water service pipe and storm sewer pipe as shown on the plans. Cap at <br /> sewer and water mains per CEAM Standards and in accordance with the details as shown in the plans. <br /> 3.04 DISPOSAL OF MATERIALS AND DEBRIS <br /> A. All materials removed and all debris resulting from the removal operations, shall become the property of the <br /> Contractor and shall be removed from the site and disposed of in accordance with all City, Federal and State <br /> Laws and regulations. <br /> B. Under no circumstances shall crushed material, or products generated from the crushed material of the building <br /> demolition,be used on-site as fill. <br /> 3.05 DUST CONTROL <br /> A. The Contractor must take steps as necessary to control the dust during all building demolition and removal <br /> operations. If necessary,water is available from the fire hydrant located on the site and may be purchased from <br /> the City of Ramsey. The Contractor must supply his own water meter with backflow preventer to the <br /> satisfaction of the Owner. Fees for water usage shall be paid separately by Contractor to the City of Ramsey in <br /> accordance with the City's 2016 Fee schedule. <br /> 3.06 CONTAMINATED SOIL AND BURIED WASTE <br /> A. In the event that contaminated soil and/or buried waste is unexpectedly encountered during the progress of the <br /> work, the Contractor shall immediately cease work and secure the area. Work outside the vicinity of the <br /> discovery area may continue provided that the area of potential contamination is secure.
