D. Do not remove wet subsoil,unless it is subsequently processed to obtain optimum moisture content. <br /> E. Stability: Replace damaged or displaced subsoil to same requirements as for specified fill. <br /> 3.04 SOIL REMOVAL <br /> A. Stockpile excavated topsoil on site before grading. <br /> B. Maintain areas in a well drained condition at all times. <br /> C. Excavate to the grades as shown on the grading plan. <br /> 3.05 PLACING EMBANKMENTS <br /> A. Deposit and spread in uniform layers in 12 inch lifts. <br /> B. Maintain optimum moisture content. <br /> C. Compact to 100%of Standard proctor density. <br /> D. Do not place frozen material. <br /> 3.06 FINISH GRADING <br /> A. Before Finish Grading: <br /> 1. Verify building and trench backfilling have been inspected. <br /> 2. Verify subgrade has been contoured and compacted. <br /> B. Remove debris,roots,branches, stones,in excess of 3 inch in size. Remove contaminated soil. <br /> C. Where topsoil is to be placed, scarify surface to depth of 3 inches. <br /> D. In areas where vehicles or equipment have compacted soil, scarify surface to depth of 6 inches. <br /> E. Place topsoil in areas as directed by the Owner's representation. <br /> F. Place topsoil to nominal depth of 4 inches. <br /> G. Place topsoil during dry weather. <br /> H. Remove roots, weeds,rocks, and foreign material while spreading. <br /> I. Near plants spread topsoil manually to prevent damage. <br /> J. Fine grade topsoil to eliminate uneven areas and low spots. Maintain profiles and contour of subgrade. <br /> 3.07 TOLERANCES <br /> A. Top Surface of Subgrade: Plus or minus 0.1 foot from required elevation. <br /> B. Top Surface of Finish Grade: Plus or minus 0.1 foot. <br /> 3.08 CLEANING AND PROTECTION <br /> A.
