Plants And Thin_~a: Mr. ~ick~an vas present and referred to the question regarding the setback distance of his ney accessory structure at Plants and Things; at tbs time, be did receive approval from City ~uilding Inspector Walter 3obnson. When the building footings vere being installed, 3 persons fro~ ~amsey stopped by'to ~easure distances and stated the distances vere up to code. Commissioner Eendr£ksen stated that be vas one of those persons that stopped by after construction vas completed and his comment vas that in just stepping off the distance, it seemed close enough to code considering the building ~as already built. Mr. ~ickman stated that at the time footings vere being installed, he vas told b7 Nr. Wirz that the distances vere 0.~. Commissioner Dee~er inquired if ~r. ~iclu~an ever provided the building inspector vith a lot aurvel. Nr. Hick~an replied that he did provide a lot survey. Mr. ~ick~an also stated that professional surveyors ~easured and they determined that the road is off by I0'. Nr. ~ickman stated that he is in Razsey to do business and he would have moved his buildin$ 3' to please the city had he been iustructed to do as at the beginnin~ of construction, Commissioner Dee~er stated that Nr. Bickman'a construction did ~et caught in the middle of a change in building inspector staff at the city. Technically, Mr. Hick~an cannot sell his property until this ~atter is cleared up; it is a cloud on his title. Commissioner Ziunner~an advised Nr. Hick~an that for any future constuction he hire professionals to be sure building placement is proper; city buildin~ inspector can require a certificate of survey but it is the property ovner's responsibility to be sure the buildings are properly placed. ~r. Hick~an replied that he vas told that he did not need a certificate of survey and the buildin~ use vas for warehouse; the building is nov being used for shovroo~ containin§ duplicates of vhat is displayed in the main showroom, Mr. Hicl~nan stated that he vould have built in Elk River had be kno~rn he vould have all these problems in Ramsay. Chairman ?stetson inquired if Nr. Hick~an*s operation has an off-street parking plan. Mr. ~ick~an replied that he has 38,000 square feet of parking area.
