Also presented is the percent of total daily inbound boardings for each trip and [he load factor (the ratio of total passengers to the number of seats on the bus) for each trip. As shown in Table 1, there were between 337-351 one-way passenger boardings per day on the Northstar Commuter Coach. Examining just inbound trips, this equates to an average productivity of 48 passengers per revenue hour. Approximately 70 percent of all boardings occurred in Elk River. Because there is no other transit service in Elk River, there are two non- stop trips from Elk River to Minneapolis, which saves passengers about 5 minutes in total travel time by not stopping in Coon Rapids. The Northstar Commuter Coach vehicles have a maximum seated capacity of 57 (the total seated capacity is reduced to 51 when the wheelchair space is occupied). Load factors throughout the day were relatively high, averaging between 0.74 and 0.77. One trip (a non-stop trip from Elk River to Minneapolis) had a load factor of 1.07, indicating that some passengers were required to stand. In general, the earlier trips were more crowded than the later trips and the two non-stop trips from Elk River to Minnea'polis are the most heavily utilized. Table 1.
