Please note that high priority items include walking, hiking, and bicycle trails, fishing piers, natural park areas, public river accesses and swimming beaches. There are also funds available through the LCMR Athletic Field Development grant program for the development of outdoor athletic field facilities which are designed primarily for recreation use (such as softball or soccer fields). Please note that the local share would probably be about 50% of the total project cost in either program. CASE 95: At its January 16, 1986 meeting, the Commission agreed with Councilmember Cox' suggestions for the development of River's Bend Park (trails, picnic areas, etc.). The Commission also discussed the possibility of including the Ramsey School/Ramsey Terrace Park trail in the LAW~ON/LCMR application. The Commission should discuss whether they wish to submit a LAWCON/LCMR application for FY 1987 funds. If so, the Commission should determine what project(s) they will include in the application consistent with the LAWCON/LCMR guidelines and where the local funds will come from for the proposed project(s). The Commission should make a recommendation to the City Council as to what project(s) they wish to include in the LAWCON/LCMR application and where local funds will come from. This recommendation should also contain a request authorizing staff time (including engineering) to prepare the application as proposed. Enclosure (D2-b) contains a copy of the results of the special workshop meeting held on March 6, 1986. This is contained for your information and discussion.
