Councilmember Cox stated that this <br />Council can request that the Charter Commission initiate an amer~]ment to the <br />Charter. <br /> <br />Mayor tteitman noted that the Charter Commission has been requested to review <br />the resolution readin9 requirement in the Charter and a special meeting has <br />been scheduled for ~ursday, February 28, 1985. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that there was some discussion on February 26, 1985 <br />regarding adopting, at the beginning of Council meetings, a blanket mot/on to <br />waive resolution reading; this procedure will negate the intention of the <br />Charter to give rights to the minority. Councilmember Cox also pointed out <br />that one oouncilperson can conceivably stop action on a resolution because the <br />charter does not specify who reads the resolution when a request has been <br />made. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember l~eimann and seconded by Councilmember Cox, for <br />discussion, to request that the Charter Commission review Charter requirement <br />regarding reading of resolutions prior to adoption and to report back to City <br />Council with a recommendation that is in the best interest of the citizens of <br />Ramsey. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that in the past, if anybody wanted a resolution <br /> February 27, 1985 <br /> <br />Page 7 of 21 <br /> <br /> <br />
