Council made a decision to hold
a public hearing and this evening we will address pertinent issues; do not
intend to address landfill issues not relating to the mining permit. In 1983,
Waste Managment worked towards the purchase of the landfill; we recognozied
the need for borrow material for cover at the present landfil; the sale closed
without a mining permit. In December, 1984 the landfill was purchased from
Ramsey and Anoka. Under the Waste Management Act of 1980, either Site P will
be selected or it won't be selected; if it is not selected the current
operation will come to an end and Waste management will own or sell the
property, not to be used as a landfill. Waste Management will continue to
need oover material: 1) to conclude the present operation; 2) to comply
with County's direction as a result of County requested review of drainage
patterns and structures and proposal of ways to increase run-off potential and
decrease rainwater infiltration; 3) to comply with County Ordinance requiring
February 12, 1985
