Con~nissioner Cox stated that the reason for Ramsey's good financial health is the overtaxing of this community's eoonomic development side. Commissioner Cox stated that the report looks good from a management of dollars point of view, but it is not a true picture of Ramsey's financial health. Ramsey's good financial health is the result of overtaxing businesses and open land. ~ ~onformationa] Item: UIx]ate on North Metro Traffic Tas~ Force: Ms. Norris stated that the task force has set up a work plan and time frame. Ms. Norris stated that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners has adopted a resolution to pursue Federal funding for the extension of County Rd. ~116 and the Rum River Bridge crossing; Ramsey City Council adopted a resolution supporting County efforts. _LY)~ISS ION INPUT Commissioner Fults stated that the Ford Company will be constructing a new dealership on the north end of the Twin Cities and he is working with one of the 3 dealers chosen from the 68 dealers bidding on the facility. Commissioner Fults stated that the two major considerations in the final decision will be location visibility and traffic count. Commissioner Fults stated that Ramsey's traffic count is going to be great and this fact should also be included in the City brochure. Ms. Norris stated that Anoka County is currently in the process of acquiring land for the ~hurston Avenue overpass and extension. Chairman Greenberg stated that the extension of ~hurston Avenue does not remedy the problem of crossing the Mississippi; there needs to be a bridge further west. Chairman Greenberg stated that another bridge crossing should be addressed prior to making a decision on the extension and overpass at ~urston Avenue as he sees the potential for another traffic bottleneck here. Commission consensus is to direct Ms. Norris to pursue another bridge crossing on the Mississippi prior to the extending of ~urston Avenue. Motion by Commissioner Fults and seconded by Commissioner COx to adjourn this meeting of the Rmmsey Economic Develolm~.nt Co~ntission. Motion carried. Votin9 Yes': Chairman Greenberg, Commissioners Miller, Fults, Cox, Vevea, Hardin and Wagner. Voting NO: None.
