Tile subject <br />matter of this letter addressed a Notice of Violation from a state <br />))azardous waste inspection, conducted by NPCA staff at our facility on <br />March 29, 1985. This letter is to inform you that it is the intention of <br />Waltek, Inc. to cooperate wit)l the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to <br />resolve t~e violations identified in this letter. <br /> <br />We have retained PACE Laboratories, Inc. to provide technical support in <br />response to these violations. <br /> <br />Tile reraainder of this letter will address the actions which will be taken <br />by Waltek, Inc. to comply with page 3 of the Notice of Violation titled <br />"Requirements". Our response to the 'Requirements' will be addressed in <br />the same order as they were presented in your April 26, 1985 letter. <br /> <br />Item 1 - Upon completion of an evaluation of all waste streams generated <br />~t Waltek, Inc. to determine which are hazardous and which are <br />,)on-hazardous, we will complete and submit the EPA Notification of <br />Hazaruous Waste Activity Form (EPA form 8700-12) in order to obtain a <br />generator ioentif~cation number. <br /> <br />Item 2 - All hazardous waste currently stored on-site, or generated by <br />Waltek, Inc. ultimately will be packaged to meet Department of <br />Transportation and Environmental Protection Agency requirements for <br />transportation. Drums currently containing freon sludge will be repacked <br />into DOT approved 17 H or 17 E 55 gallon drums. Open head drums, stored <br />outside and currently containing a solidified sodium hydroxide sludge <br />will no~ be containerized until a determination can be made through <br />u~alyses a~d correspondence wit)) a permitted hazardous waste disposal <br />~'acility, if ti)is w~stestream can be shipped in bulk or needs to be <br />repacked into 55 gallon DOT drums or overpacks. <br /> <br /> <br />
