(bmcilme~ber Reimann stated that City <br />Assessor Wirz is busy with assessments but will be ava_~lable for final <br /> <br />Oou~cilme~ber Gox inquired as to the definition of Level I and Level II <br />Buildin9 Inspectors and Mr. Wirz' classification. <br /> <br />I Mr. Berg stated that Level I is o~rtified to inspect one and ~o f~rily h~es; <br /> ~e~,el II is oertified to inspect ali buildings; Mr. Wirz is a Level II. <br /> <br />Oouncilme~ber (Dx suggested that it would be more p~udent to hire a Level I <br />Building Inspectof-t~at oould upgrade h/mself; this suggestion is based on the <br />fact that the City already ~as a Level II Inspector on board. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Gou~cilmember Reimann stated that a Level II would be a more qualified person. <br /> <br />Mr. Berg pointed out that the City doesn't even have to have another oertified <br />Building Inspector. <br /> <br />O~cil~e~ber Rei~ann stated that a lot of the City's lxobl~ms go back to when <br />the building permit was issued; don't want to put Ramsey in a bad position by <br />hiring an u~qualified person. <br /> <br />Motion by Go~cilmember (bx and seoor~d by Go~%cil~ber Reimann to table this <br />case t~ltil the Sept~ber 24, 1985 Oouncil meetin9. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Gouncilm~mber Reimann asked Councilm~mber Sorteberg if he <br />feels the City should prooeed to advertise the position. Q)~cil~ber Gox <br />stated that specifying Level II in the ad will eliminate a lot of good, <br />conscientious, hardworking inspectors frc~ consideration. (1)~lcil~ber <br />Sorteberg stated that the oost between Level II and Lewel I is ~ot that great <br />and feels the City should hire a Level II. Go~lcil~ber Gox stated that the <br />discussion seems to imply that the City will have ~o p~obl~s it a Level II is <br />hired. <br /> <br />Motion failed. Voting Yes: Co~ci~r (Dx. Voting No: Mayor Beitman, <br />(1)~ciln~bers Sorteberg, ~_~mann and Schlueter. <br /> <br />Motion by Gouncilmember (Dx and seconded by (buncil~e~ber Reimann to authorize <br />the City ~dministrator to advertise for a Building Inspector and not specify <br />the level of Inspector desired.
