Chairperson Elvig asked if entering into a longer term contract with Ace is possible. <br /> <br />Finance Officer Lund stated that after the one year extension with Ace expires, it would be <br />possible to enter into a longer term contract with Ace or another recycling hauler licensed in the <br />City. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Strommen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to recommend <br />that thc City Council grant authorization for a one year extension to the residential curbside <br />recycling contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, and Councilmembers Strommen and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Authorize Purchase of Tree Spade <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler stated the 2004 Capital Equipment Budget included <br />$40,000 lot' the purchase of a tree spade that would be mounted to the existing front end loader. <br />He indicated that two quotes were received by City Staff, one from Lemar Tree Spades, Alberta, <br />Canada, in thc amount of $35,800 USD and the other from St. Joseph Equipment, Elk River, <br />Minnesota, in the amount of $32,935. He noted that both quotes include sales tax and delivery. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig asked if staff is able to discern any difference in quality of the equipment <br />between Lemar and St. Joseph. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler stated that he is not familiar with Lemar Tree <br />Spades; however, the City does a lot of business with St. Joseph Equipment. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Strommen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to recommend <br />that the City Council authorize the purchase of a tree spade from St. Joseph Equipment, Elk <br />Rivet', Minnesota, for the price of $32,935.00. <br /> <br />Motion carricd. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Authorize Purchase and Installation of Fencing and Lighting for Police <br />hnpound Lot <br /> <br />Police Captain Tim Dwyer stated that three vehicles in the possession of the police department <br />were recently broken into and damaged while being stored next to the Public Works buildings. <br />} le stated damage to one vehicle was approximately $900 and another vehicle had damage in the <br />amount of approximately $700.
