CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />Topic Report: Mayor and City Council Salaries <br />By: Givonna Reed <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City Council requested that staff research the procedures for increasing salaries for <br />mayors and council members and how much other cities pay mayors and council <br />members. <br /> <br />Section 415.11 of Minnesota Statutes states that salaries may be set by ordinance at any <br />amount deemed reasonable by the governing board; however, any increases approved <br />may not take effect until after the next election. Staff has contacted several other cities to <br />determine how much the mayor and council members are currently being paid.
