Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, that the mayor's salary <br />be increased by $10,000. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Kurak, and Pearson. <br />Voting No: Councilmembers Cook, Strommen, and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />2) Authorize Appointment of Paid On-Call Fire Fighters <br />Human Resources Manager Reed explained due to understaffing, sfaff began a recruitment <br />process to hire' eight additional paid on-call fire fighters. Fire Fighter information sessions were <br />held March 18"~ and March 20~h, 2004. Interviews were conducted May 19, 2004. Candidates <br />were interviewed by a panel consisting of the Fire Chief, both Assistant Fire Chiefs, a Lieutenant <br />and herself. Candidates took the physical agility test the first week in June. Staff is <br />recormnending Bradley Jorgensen, Michelle Dvorak, Brett Eenhuis, Klm Suchy, Andrew <br />Dubois, Chad Mulheron, Derek Dodds and Jeff Erickson be appointed to paid, on-call fire fighter <br />positions contingent upon satisfactory physical examinations and drug screens. The candidates <br />will begin employment' July 14, 2004. The Personnel Committee forwarded this for approval <br />from the City Council. <br /> <br />3) Consider Ending the Probationary Period for a Patrol Officer <br />Human Resources Manager Reed explained Ryan Law assumed the position of Patrol officer on <br />May 20, 2003, and his one-year probationary period ended on May 20, 2004. His performance <br />has been reviewed by the Police Sergeants and has been documented as satisfactory. Based on a <br />satisfactory one-year appraisal, staff is recommending Mr. Law be retained as a regular full-time <br />patrol officer effective May 20, 2004. The Personnel Committee forwarded this for approval <br />from the City Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig questioned if this action will be retroactive to May 20, 2004. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed responded in the affirmative. <br /> <br />4) Accept Resignation of Accounting Clerk and Authorize Staff to Begin the <br /> Recruitment Process for an Accounting Clerk <br />Human Resources Manager Reed explained on June 17, 2004,.Ms..Jennie Loeffler. resigned from <br />her position as Accounting Clerk effective July 9, 2004. Staff is recommending that Ms. <br />Loeffler's resignation be 'accepted. Staff further recommends that the City Council grant <br />authorization to begin the recruitment process to hire an Accounting Clerk. The Personnel <br />Committee forwarded this for approval from the City Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Cormnittee in cases two through four, to adopt Resolution #04- <br />06-156 authorizing the appointments of Bradley Jorgensen, Michelle Dvorak, Brett Eenhuis, <br />'Kim Suchy, Andrew Dubois, Chad Mulheron, Derek Dodds and Jeff Erickson to the positions of <br />paid, on-call fire fighters on the schedule proposed by staff and contingent upon satisfactory <br />physical examinations and drug screens; to adopt Resolution #04-06-157 ending the probationary <br />period for Patrol Officer Ryan Law and granting hhn status as a regular full-time employee <br />effective May 20, 2004; to adopt Resolution #04-06-158 accepting Jennie Loeffler's resignation <br /> <br />P80 <br /> <br />Ci~ Council/June 22, 2004 <br />Page 12 of 31 <br /> <br /> <br />
