Motion oar tied. <br /> <br />Authorization To Advertise Pot A Bull_fling Offieia~, <br /> <br />(bu~cilme~ber Reimann stated that the Personnel G~mmittee is recz~me~ng to <br />advertise for a Level II Building Official rather than & Director of Technical <br />Servioes to fLll Mr. Berg's position. (b~cilme~ber Reimann stated that City <br />Assessor Wirz is busy with asses~ents but will be available for final <br />inspections. <br /> <br />O~cilm~ber Gox inquired as to the definition of Level I and be~el II <br />Bn{~ding Inspectors and Mr. Wirz' classification. <br /> <br />Mr. Berg stated that Level I is oertified to inspect one and two family <br />Level II is oertified to inspect all buildings; Mr. Wirz is a Level II. <br /> <br />O~cilmember O~x suggested that it would be more lxudent to hire a Level I <br />Building Inspector that ~ould upgrade himself; this suggestion is bmsed on the <br />fact that the City a/ready ~as a Level II Inspector on board. <br /> <br />Go~cilwember Reimann stated that a Level II would be a more qualified person. <br /> <br />Mr. Berg pointed out that the City 4~esn't even have to have another oertified <br />Building Inspector. <br /> <br />O~uncilmember Reimann stated that a lot ~f the City's ~xobl~s go kmck to when <br />the building permit was issued; don't want to put Ramsey in a bad position by <br />hiring an u~qualified person. <br /> <br />Motion by Go~cilm~ber G~x and seconded by Oo~cilw~ber Reimann to table this <br />case m%til the September 24, 1985 Gouncil meeting. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Gouncilm~mber Reimann asked Gounciln~ber Sorteberg if he <br />feels the City should prooeed to advertise the position. (b~cil~ber <br />stated that specifying Level II in the ad will eliminate a lot of good, <br />oonscientious, hardworking inspectors fr~m oonsideration. G~cil~ber <br />Sorteberg stated that the (Dst between Level II ar~ Level I is not that great <br />and feels the City should hire a Level II. Go~ciln~ber (k)x stated that the <br />discussion ~cms to imply that the City will ~ave no p~obl~s it a Level II is <br />hired. <br /> <br />Motion failed. Voting Yes: (b~ci~ber (bx. Voting No: Mayor Hei~an, <br />Go~cilme~bers Sorteberg, Reimann and Schlueter. <br /> <br />Motion by fb~cilm~ber Gox and seconded by (b~cilmember Reimann to authorize <br />the City Administrator to advertise for a Building Inspector and ~ot specify <br />the level of Inspector desired.
