TIT~E <br /> <br />mis ordinance shall be known as the "Ramsey Zoning Ordinance" <br />except as referred to herein where it shall be known as "this <br />chapter." <br /> <br />me following zoning provisions and the zoning map established <br />hereby have been enacted in accordance with a comprehensive plan <br />of land use for the purpose of: <br /> - promoting the health, safety, morals, c(~fort, convenience <br /> prosperity, and genmral welfare of the residents of Ramsey. <br /> - dividing the City into zones or districts restricting and <br /> regulating therein the location, erection, construction, <br /> reo)nstruction, alteration, and use of buildings, <br /> structures, and land for specified uses. <br /> - regulating the intensity of the use of land. <br /> - regulating and determining the area of open spaces sur- <br /> rounding b3il_dings in order to pre~ent the overcrowding of <br /> land and to assure adequate light and air. <br /> - protecting waterways and natural resources. <br /> - establishing building lines and the location of buildings <br /> designed for specified industrial, commercial, residential <br /> and other uses within such areas and fixing stan_da, rds to <br /> which buildings or structures shall oonform therein. <br /> - prohibiting uses, buildings, or structures ino0mpatible <br /> with the character of the specified districts. <br /> - preventing adiitions to and alterations or remodeling of <br /> existing buildings or structures in such a way as to avoid <br /> the restrictions and limitations imposed hereunder. <br /> - limiting congestion in the public streets by providing for <br /> off-street l~rking and loading and unloading of vehicles. <br /> - providing for the gradual elimination of non-conforming <br /> uses of land, buildings and structures. <br /> - conserving the eoonc~ic value of land and buildings through- <br /> out the City. <br /> <br />It is the policy of the City of Ramsey that the enforcement, <br />amendment and administration of this chapter be accomplished <br />with due consideration of the recommendations contained in the <br />Comprehensive Plan as developed and amended from time to time by <br />the Planning Commission and City Council of the City. The <br />Council reoognizes the Comprehensive Plan as the policy adopted <br />to regulate land use and development~ in accordance with the <br />policies and purpose herein set forth. <br /> <br />A-1 <br /> <br /> <br />
