I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />i <br />I <br />I <br />I' <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />The bituminous surfaces in the proposed projects are showing <br />evidence of deterioration and are in need of seal coating. <br /> <br />PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS <br /> <br />To extend the life and renew the surface of the existing paved <br />streets, it is proposed to seal coat the streets with a Class C <br />aggregate in accordance with Specification No. 2356 of the Minnesota <br />Pepartment of Transportation's Standard Specification for ~ighway <br />eonst,uction, 1983 Edition. <br /> <br />The proposed work would consists of crack filling and patching, <br />application of a bituminous material, and application of an <br />aggregate which is 3/8 inches in size and smaller. The crack <br />filling and bituminous repairs are proposed to be completed by <br />the City's Street Maintenance Department as routine maintenance. <br /> <br />It is anticipated that the normal life of seal coating with a <br />Class C aggregate is approximately five (5) years. This will <br />wary somewhat, depending on the type and amount of traffic. <br /> <br />~STIMATED PROJECT COSTS <br /> <br />~e estimated quantities and costs are provided on the following <br />pages in tabular form for each of the improvement projects. <br />Costs consist of the construction cost and project overhead cost <br />which includes engineering, administrative, contingencies and <br />financing. The overhead costs are estimated at twenty percent <br />(20%) of the construction cost. Following is a breakdown of the <br />overhead costs: <br /> <br /> <br />
