It appears that if this project is to be completed, condemnation of
,~e right-of-way will be neoessary and the City will have to fund the
~~~~vroject in some manner.
Your action will be to advise Staff as to how you wish to proceed
with this rotter.
~: Pro_~x)sed Street Improvement of Azurite Street NW North
Df No~ Blvd. ~:
I
!
I
I
I
Council, at a previous meeting, discussed the grade problem with
Azurite Street NW where it enters County Road ~5. The Staff's
direction was to determine to what extent the County would
participate in the cost. At this time they will not make a
commitment in writing, but have advised the City Engineer that they
will do the paving when they overlay County Road ~5 if we do the
grading. The Street Superintendent informed us that he would not be
able to do the grading, so it would be necessary to bid the grading
work as well as the repair/replacement of one concrete driveway.
5~ne other problem that will be encountered with the County doing the
p~ving is the scheduling. It would not be advisable to have the
intersection open for any length of t~ because of erosion.
In view of this, it would be our recommendation that the grade
corrections on Azurite Street h~ be bid as an alternate bid with the
Ramsey Terrace project. ~nat alternate would be broken into grading
to Class 5 and paving so that the paving could be eliminated if the
scheduling with the County could be satisfactorily arra~nged. If the
scheduling could not be arranged, then the City could do the entire
project and request reimbursement from the County for the cost of
their share of the work. Enclosure (D2-cc) contains the City
Engineer' s letter regarding this ~tter.
Council Action:
Your action will be to give the City Engineer direction. The
foll(~ing proposed motion is hereby s,,~mitted for your consideration:
Motion kS; ~ and seconded by~o direct the
City Engi~ to p~epare an alternate ]~j
id along with the Ramsey
Terrace street improvement p{oject for the change of the street
grade on Azurite Street 5W just north of County Road 95.
Further discussion:
Motion carried/failed.
Voting no
Voting yes
Note: If, after taking the bids, you determine that you are going to
proceed with this improvement, a budget amendment will be necessary.
