PROfMEDINGS OF CITY O0UNC~_ L CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA OUONTY STATE OF MINNESUA~ A special meeting of the Ramsey City G~uncil was held on Wednesday, June 19, 1985 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 N~wthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Members Present: Also Present: Members Absent: Acting Mayor Gary Reimann Ceuncilm~ber Arnie Cox Councilm~mber Al Sorteberg City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle Mayor Gary Heitman Oouncilm~mber Jean Schlueter Acting Mayor Reimann cal~ed the special G~uncil meeting to order at 4:42 p.m. and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. (X)UNCIL BUSINESS ~ Gambling_ License _A~_lication: Case Of Ramsey_ Lions: Gouncilmember Gox noted that the oover letter call ing for this special meeting states the date as '~ursday, June 19, 1985'; it should have read 'Wednesday, June 19, 1985'; this error may be the reason for two m~bers of ~ouncil not being present today. Oouncilms~ber (Dx noted that this is not the first time an error like this has been made. Gouncilmember Oox stated that the Ramsey Lions are making application for a gambling license fr~m the Minnesota State Charitable Gambling Control Board; the license is required for the raffle event to be held in oonjuction with the O~m~unity Festival being conducted to match the Lutheran Brotherhood donation for park develoIm~.nt. ~e application to the State includes a 30 day waiting period to allow the City an opportunity to react to the application; the Lions are requesting that the City waive that 30 day waiting period as the festival is scheduled for July 12, 13 and 14. Gouncil unanimously consented to dispense with the reading of the resolution. Motion by Oouncilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilm~ber Cox to adopt Resolution #85-112 waiving the 30 day waiting period in conjunction with the Ramsey Lions' application for a charitable gambling license.
