I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />COUNCIL PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Council Personnel Committee met on December 21, 1981 at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Councilmember Gary Reimann <br /> Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Lloyd G. Schnelle, City.A .dministrator/Clerk <br />Michael Auspos, ~olice Chief <br />Merle Mevissen, Public Works Superintendent <br />Clayton R. Berg, Building Official <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:02 p.m. on this date. <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the Council Personnel Comm/ttee that the first <br />item of business was to consider putting Miss Penny Ott on full-time, as her <br />six-month probation period was up today. He further stated that she was doing <br />a fine job and was working out really well with the City, <br /> <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg <br />to put Miss Penny Ott on full-time. There was no further discussion. <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the committee that the only other item of business <br />was seminars. He presented a lengthy dissertation on various items such as con- <br />tinued education to maintain certification, continued education to stay abreast <br />of new methods and materials, etc. He further stated that it should be the City's <br />responsibility to provide this training, as they were the benefactors. <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann stated he felt any seminars and the related costs should <br />be paid by the individual. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sorteberg stated he felt the City would be more the benefactors and <br />they should pay, <br /> <br />The Police Chief pointed out the safe driving seminar he and his officers had <br />attended and quoted statistics as to the savings State-wide as a result of this <br />training. <br /> <br />Discussion at length followed with Councilmembers Sorteberg and Reimann both main- <br />taining their positions after which a compromise was reached which is as follows: <br /> <br />1) That the existing resolution in regards to this matter will be changed <br />to indicate that seminar approval would be granted by the City Administrator. <br /> <br />2) That the costs for said seminars approved by the City Administrator will <br />be paid by the City, <br /> <br />3) That the individual attending said seminars will report in writing to <br />the City A~ninistrator the context of the meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
