Inc. For A Variance From Maximum Height <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman inguired if there is a time oonstraint that ~ is operating <br />under and what the consequences would be if ~WN does not get the new height. <br /> <br />Mr. ~orpe replied that the new FCC requir~m, nts for Class C licensing must be <br />cc~plied with by March of 1986; ~TWN would lose it's Class C license if the 300 <br />meter height requiroment is not fulfilled. <br /> <br />Mr. Fries stated that ~ would renain a radio station, but the <br />declassification would take a~ay it's ability to be ompetitive in the market <br /> <br />Mr. ~orpe stated that the ~in Cities has been given 12 Class C licenses; <br />there cannot be anymore frequencies that that. ~hose 12 stations are in <br />operation today; 10 of then do not meet the minimu~ ~.ight requirements. From <br />a Bh'iloso~1.cal level, those 12 radio stations represent a limited natural <br />~esource. If ~ is downgraded, other radio stations that do not serve this <br />market area, could encroach on ~ further serving the metro area bemuse <br />would be locked into a lesser grade signal.
