Inc. For A Variance From Maximum Height Mayor Heitman inguired if there is a time oonstraint that ~ is operating under and what the consequences would be if ~WN does not get the new height. Mr. ~orpe replied that the new FCC requir~m, nts for Class C licensing must be cc~plied with by March of 1986; ~TWN would lose it's Class C license if the 300 meter height requiroment is not fulfilled. Mr. Fries stated that ~ would renain a radio station, but the declassification would take a~ay it's ability to be ompetitive in the market Mr. ~orpe stated that the ~in Cities has been given 12 Class C licenses; there cannot be anymore frequencies that that. ~hose 12 stations are in operation today; 10 of then do not meet the minimu~ ~.ight requirements. From a Bh'iloso~1.cal level, those 12 radio stations represent a limited natural ~esource. If ~ is downgraded, other radio stations that do not serve this market area, could encroach on ~ further serving the metro area bemuse would be locked into a lesser grade signal.
