~he Oa~mission noted the follo~ing: <br /> <br />1) Special City Council meeting minutes dated August 13, 1985. <br /> <br />2) <br /> regarding proposed uses for Revenue Sharing. <br /> <br />Minutes of public hearing conducted by City (buncil dated August 27, 1985 <br /> <br />3) Regular City Council meeting minutes dated August 27, 1985. <br /> <br />Discussion R _eqarding_ Airport ~dation To City_ ~ouncil To <br /> Endorse Gateway North Master Plan-- <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Ippel, Airport C~rmission Chairman, was present and stated that the <br />Airport Commission has r~d that Council endorse the Airport Master <br />Plan; endorsing the Airport Master Plan does not ocm~it the City to developing <br />the airport. Mr. Ippel requested that the Eoonc~ic Develo~l~ent (k~mission pass <br />a motion enoouraging the City Council to endorse the Airport Master Plan and <br />proceed with the next gtmse of the study. <br /> <br />~he 0o~mission discussed certain aspects of the Airport Master Plan, i.e., <br />develolm~nt and maintenance costs to the City, economic benefits, alternative <br />sites. <br /> <br />Motion by __cc~m__ issioner Vevea and seconded by Cc~missioner Fults to recan~J~] <br />that City Council etldorse the Airport Master Plan. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: (lm~issioner Hardin expressed concern with the cost to the <br />City for airport develoi~ent versus the actual affect airport develoll~ent will <br />have on econc~ic development; possibly those dollars would be better spent <br />developing the ir~ustrial park with sewer and waters; not opposed to the <br />airport but maybe there is a better location that would not involve moving <br />residenoes; the possibility of a joint airport develotl~ent with Anoka and Elk <br />River should be pursued. Mr. Ippel stated that Anoka and Elk River have <br />expressed an interest in what happens in Ra~sey with respect to the airport; <br />the t/me to get those cities involved is when Ramsey has an endorsed Airport <br />Master Plan. Mr. Ippel stated that with no more growth in R~sey, the <br />develoll~ent costs would amount to $11/household/year and $55/business/year. <br />Mr. DeLuca referred to information contained in the September 3, 1985 Airport <br />Cc~mission minutes frc~ Kathy Robinson regarding real estate sales in the <br />vicinity of the airport and stated that he knows the hc~e at 7440 152nd Lane <br />was on the market for t~;o yeazs with different realtors and the original asking <br />price was close to $69,000. <br /> <br />(hatrman Greenberg temporarily tabled the vote on the ~ction until after the <br />Can~ission had an opportunity to discuss Case #4 of the agenda. <br /> <br />Mr. Ippel noted that the endorsement of the Airport Master Plan is a vehicle to <br />do further studies; it doesn't mean an airport will developed on that sic. <br /> <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
