Mr. Jack Ippel stated that pursuing other city participation is really a responsibility of the Airport O~pmission. ;m~ndment c~rried. Case ~: Discussion Reg_ardin9 R _e~uest Fr~ Ai _rport ~ission ~gardtgg Feasibility_ Of Utilizing_ Tax Increment Financin~ For _b~gradigg __Oc~missiormr ltardin stated that Ms. Waelti ba~ said that it is feasible to use tax increment to develop the airport but the City would have to bond for the dollars up front, whic~ would be true for any tax increment Ixoject; development must take place in that area in a relatively short ~ot~t of time in order for the City to recoup it's dollars. Mr. Ippel stated that the intent of the Airport Qlvmission, in their recca~endation that a tax incrm~.nt project area be established consisting of the industrial park and land that would be acquired for airport develoll~ent, was to insure that tax incremmt dollars fr~ that area would be available for airport develola~-nt should the airport become a municipal facility. ~aose tax increment dollars would not be restricted to airport develol~pent and could be used for sewer and water, for instance, if the airport did not become a reality.
