Chairman Ippel stated <br />that he will b~se his decision on information gai~ed and o0mm~nts fr~ both <br />sides of the issue. <br /> <br />Cit_~.en - Why did air traffic at Gateway decrease over the years? <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel replied that the decrease in traffic was due to the eGonomy, gas <br />lxices and type of operation; the eGon~y is getting better and the type of <br />aircraft Gateway would acc(~odate is bering more popular. <br /> <br />C~,'.issioner Stauffer noted that the rinutes of this Om~ission's meetings shew <br />that this __cc~m_ ission is making every attempt to be objective. <br /> <br />__~3mmissioner Greenberg stated that he chairs the EGon~mic Developr~.nt <br />__fi?mission and it's purpose is to hrir~ industrial and o~mercial d~veloI~ent <br />to Ramsey. __C~_ issioner Greenberg stated that he was irwolved when Ramsey was <br />a township; it was realized that residential deve/olm~.nt only would result in <br />~affordable tax~s and 1400 a~res was set aside for industrial develoim~.nt. <br />__~,~missioner Greenberg stated that the tax~s on his business are $90/day and <br />many other businesss are also paying at that rate; most of that money goes to <br />the school district. ~l~e race for o~mmercial and industrial develolm~nt is on <br />in Minnesota in order to ease the tax load and the (m. ly thing Ramsey Gan do is <br />developr~.nt that 1400 acres. Chairman Greenberg irguired as to what Gould be <br />done for the residents of Safety Zone B with regards to subdividing in order to <br />be able to afford asses~_nts. <br /> <br />Om~issioner Sieber stated that this C~m~ission Gould make r tions to <br />oouncil but Oo~cil is not obligated to foll~ those r~tions. <br /> <br />(km~issioners Domovan and Sieber stated that they feel it is time to vote on <br />whether or not to reo0~ Co~cil adopt the Airport Master Plan. <br /> <br />__e~,missioner Stauffer stated he thinks there are issues that need further <br />discussion. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by (km~issior~r Sieber to reo0~ to City Go~cfl that all <br />oonsiderations of and work t~ards a rm~icipsl airport be stopped until and <br />unless significant interest by the residents of Ramsey is ds~onstrated. <br /> September 3, 1985 <br /> <br />Page 5 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
