Asst. City Administrator/Economic Development Manager Brama explained the process for <br /> change orders that has been followed in other instances, noting that the item would appear on <br /> Council consent agenda after the fact. He noted that if a change order exceeded the $15,000, <br /> staff would bring that forward to the Council. <br /> Motion by Councilmember LeTourneau, seconded by Councilmember Riley, to Adopt <br /> Resolution 916-11-230 Accepting Bids and Awarding Contract for Ramsey Municipal Complex <br /> Site Demolition. <br /> Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Strommen, Councilmembers LeTourneau, Riley, Johns, <br /> Kuzma, Shryock, and Williams. Voting No: None. <br /> Motion by Councilmember LeTourneau, seconded by Councilmember Johns, to authorize an <br /> additional $15,000 project contingency budget to be administered by the project manager. <br /> Further discussion: Councilmember Riley reviewed the steps that the Council has followed to <br /> avoid contingency and therefore did not support the request. <br /> Mayor Strommen noted that if the funds are not needed they will not be spent. <br /> Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Strommen, Councilmembers LeTourneau, Johns, Shryock, <br /> and Williams. Voting No: Councilmembers Kuzma and Riley. <br /> 7.04: Fire Station#2 Update <br /> Asst. City Administrator/Economic Development Manager Brama provided an update on the <br /> Fire Station 92 project, which is now complete, and reviewed the staff report. <br /> Mr. Schwartzman stated that there is no perfect project as there is always give and take in a <br /> construction project. He stated that the project did come in under budget, noting that his firm <br /> worked on behalf of the City to review change order requests and project progress. He stated <br /> that the City should be very proud of the phenomenal staff members that were a part of this <br /> process and were always looking out for the best interest of the City. <br /> Fire Chief Kohner provided an overview of the new fire station. He reviewed the different <br /> spaces including the different activities that have been, or will be, held in the meeting space. He <br /> stated that this is a multi-disciplined building that can be used collaboratively by fire, police and <br /> ambulances when needed. He stated that this station was carefully planned to provide efficient <br /> and effective deliveries of fire protection and emergency services to the Ramsey residents of <br /> today and the future. <br /> Councilmember Riley asked if Allina has been using the station as a substation. <br /> Fire Chief Kohner stated that as of January 1, Allina will be occupying that space. <br /> City Council/November 22, 2016 <br /> Page 8 of 10 <br />
