10. That the Pig and chickens each have a structure (coop) for shelter and those structures are
located within a brown, chain-link fence enclosure and have an exterior finish of T 1-11
cedar siding that is painted to match the home on the Subject Property.
11. That the Applicant also has two(2) outdoor cats and three (3)rabbits that also reside within
this enclosure space, as well as one (1) dog that resides in the home, for a total of fifteen
(15) animals on the Subject Property.
12. That per City Code Section 10-1 and based on the size of the Subject Property, the
Applicant would be eligible to maintain up to thirty-two (32) chickens.
13. That while City Code Section 10-1 attempts to assign `animal units' to various types of
animals based on size and waste production, pot-bellied pig is not specifically listed nor
assigned an animal unit value.
14. That based on information provided by the Applicant and a cursory review of information
by Staff, this animal may be comparable to a medium to large dog in terms of size and waste
produced.
15. That all parcels in the City of Ramsey are eligible to maintain up to three (3) dogs without
the issuance of a Private Kennel License.
16. That Ramsey City Code does not specify a maximum number of cats or rabbits permitted
on a parcel.
17. That the Subject Property is heavily wooded and the enclosure area and structures for the
Pig and chickens are well screened from the public road and the two(2)abutting properties.
18. That based on the size of the Subject Property, a maximum of three (3) detached accessory
buildings, not exceeding more than 2,400 square feet in area, are permitted.
19. That there are two (2) detached accessory structures on the Subject Property, the chicken
coop (128 square feet) and the Pig shelter (sixteen [16] square feet), totaling 144 square
feet.
20. That the Applicant has received a letter from the HOA attorney, as did all homeowners
within Northfork, outlining what the HOA considers to be violations of their private
covenants on the Subject Property.
21. That the Applicant sent a written correspondence to the HOA attorney, and all homeowners
within Northfork, outlining their responses to the HOA attorney's letter.
22. That the Applicant has provided nine (9) surveys completed by other property owners
within the neighborhood indicating that they do not consider the Pig as a nuisance and that
they do not object to the Pig being maintained on the Subject Property.
RESOLUTION #16-12-240
