City Administrator Ulrich noted that another option would be to place the item into the Strategic <br />Plan as a collaborative effort with a partner that would reflect a reduced cost, which would <br />identify that smaller amount rather than the total cost estimate. <br />Mayor Strommen noted that the amount was changed the previous year from the estimated <br />contribution to an estimate of the full cost. She confirmed the consensus of the Council to leave <br />the community center in the CIP at this time, pushing the item out to 2026, with the intent for the <br />Council to further discuss the topic in the future. <br />Councilmember Riley referenced the public works amount of $14,000,000 and thought that <br />figure had been $9,000,000 in the past. <br />Public Works Director Reimer provided clarification that the amount was $13,900,000. <br />Councilmember Riley asked for clarification on an item listed for the SCBA equipment and <br />asked if that is a correct cost. <br />Fire Chief Kohner replied that cost is accurate as the cost will occur for two sequential years. <br />City Administrator Ulrich clarified that the impact to the general fund would be $9,000,000 and <br />noted that the remaining funding would come from other sources. <br />Councilmember Riley referenced vehicle replacements that are noted to be replaced with the <br />same type of vehicle and asked if those items were noted correctly. <br />Police Chief Katers stated that those items are listed as placeholders and provided further <br />explanation noting that sometimes a different model of vehicle is purchased. He explained that it <br />would depend upon the State bid as that would impact the type of vehicle purchased. <br />Councilmember Riley referenced the siren replacement and asked if there would be grant funds <br />available for that type of purchase. <br />Fire Chief Kohner stated that they will be exploring grant opportunities but needed to submit an <br />estimated cost for the item. <br />Councilmember Riley referenced an item in the parks section of the document which mentions a <br />referendum and believed that the language pallet of funding should be used instead. <br />Parks and Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood stated that staff would not have <br />any concern with removing that language. It was the consensus of the Council to leave the <br />language vaguer and not include referendum specifically. <br />Councilmember Kuzma asked if there is any thought regarding the purchase of bodycams for the <br />police force. <br />City Council Work Session / November 22, 2016 <br />Page 3 of 5 <br />
