Co

.P~b]..!_q_jt~g~n_~i~!)_g In Regards to Rezoning: Council members and ?lan-
ng Co~J ssion members has discussed informally with me that maybe
Planning Co~,ission s]~ould conduct these type of publid ]~earings.
'l]~s is t]~e only City I personally know of where the Council con-
<]t~cts ~t. ~{y t]~oughts on it is that it would be better for the
l~]~i~J~g Com~lission to cor]doct them for the following reasons:

]) It usurpes too much of the Council's time when you have to
lm~Mlo a broad range of th~ngs.

]f 1lie Planning Commission conducted the public hearing, it
~,,.'ould give the Council more lead time to review the public
]]earing before the)/ would have to make their decision.

It is ve~/ hard for a Co~nmission to give concrete input %o
the Council on a rezoning matter unless they conduct the
public hearing. If this is to be changed it will require an
~men¢~ent to the zoning ordinance.

ln~lustrial Bui]di:~g' Planting Con~nission ;~as discussing the merits
of site plan review of all buildings that would be built in
industrial areas to get more control over types of building that
are being constructed. There are well founded merits for them
to look at this and the Council.

I,GS: sb
