LIC HEARING/7-25-78 <br /> Street Improvements <br /> Menkveld ' s Country Park <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CITY OF RAMBEY <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Ramsey City Council held <br />public hearing on July 25, 1978, at Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen <br />Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, MN 55303 <br /> <br />Mayor Cox called the public hearing to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Mayor Cox Also Present: <br />Councilman Mickelson <br />Councilman Muller <br />Councilman Reimann <br />Councilman Gamec (arrived at 7:10 p.m.) <br /> <br />Attorney Goodrich <br />Engineer Sha <br />Administrator Schnelle <br /> <br />Mayor Cox led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox announced the purpose of the public hearing is to consider a <br />street improvement for Menkveld's Country Park Estates. It is intended <br />to give everyone in this area information and input as to what this project <br />consists of. <br /> <br />Mr. Dick Sha, City Engineer and John Gilbertson, Engineer of the firm of <br />Consulting Engineer's Diversified were present to introduce the feasibility <br />study on this street improvement. <br /> <br />Mr. Sha, with the aid of an overhead projector, presented the facts compiled <br />in the feasibility study. The total'cost of the project is $42,000, <br />total units: 37, Cost per unit $1135.14. Over a ten year period - annual <br />payment ~61.62 and over a 15 year period - annual payment of ~24.63. <br /> <br />Engineer Sha explained the procedure involved in the entire project. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />Marjorie Kellogg, 7217 154th Lane, asked - with an 18 foot wider road or <br />at least 3 feet wider on either sid~ aren't you going to have to fill in <br />the ditches and in some cases remove culverts? <br /> <br />Mr. Sha replied yes, where there is this problem this will be done and <br />there is provisions for deeding ditches. <br /> <br />Lee Olsen, 16421 Uranium Street said there are quite a few empty lots <br />in the area and he is concerned that when they are sold and building begins <br />if a lot of heavy equipment might damage the road. <br /> <br />Mr. Sha said the road will actually handle 7 ton axel weight of any rubber <br />tire equipment. Sharp turns in the road on hot deys will cause damage by <br />heavy trucks and in this case the owner of the truck woUld be responsible if <br />he is caught. <br /> <br /> <br />
