pc CASE <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION OF AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A SALARY INCREASE <br /> FOR THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The .City Council has had several discussions regarding increasing Mayor and Council <br />salaries effective January 1, 2005. Those discussions took place May 18th, June 22"d and <br />July 13, 2004. At the July 13, 2004 City Council meeting, the ordinance proposing a <br />salary increase for the Mayor failed on a tie vote. <br /> <br />At the recommendation of the City Administrator, this item was discussed at the August <br />2, 2004 Work Session. There was consensus that staff should present an ordinance <br />proposing armual salaries of <br /> <br />$8,000 and $6,000 for the Mayor and City Council, respectively <br /> <br />OF <br /> <br />$8,500 and $6,500 for the Mayor and City Council, respectively <br /> <br />Please note that the current salaries are $6,500 and $4,500 for the Mayor and City Council, <br />respectively. <br /> <br />If approved, the salary increases will take effect January 1, 2005 and will apply to all <br />members who sit on the City Council on the effective date. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Contingent upon discussion. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br />Contingent upon discussion <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />PC: 08/10/04 <br /> <br />-251- <br /> <br /> <br />
