CASE # <br /> <br />RECEIVE BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACT FOR PROJECT #04-24 HELIUM <br />STREET/169TM DRAINAGE PROJECT <br /> By: Steve Jankowski, City.Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />.A section of 169tt~ Avenue just west of the Helium Street intersection has a chronic <br />drainage problem which has caused sever pavement deterioration.. Often in the spring of <br />the year the entire width of the roadway is flooded with several inches of water. This <br />project will reconstruct the deteriorated sections of pavement and install catchbasins and ' <br />storm sewer to provide adequate drainage. Authorization to advertise for bids was <br />ordered on July 13, 2004 and bids were received on Friday,, August 6, 2004. The bid <br />results are summarized beloW: <br /> <br />Penn Contracting <br />Dryden Excavating <br />Dave Perkins <br />W.B. The project will be financed <br />through the City's Storm Water Utility. There will be no assessments to the adjacent <br />property owners. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends award of this project to Pem~ Contracting, Inc., the low bid contractor, <br />in the amomxt of $66,240.00. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to approve Resolution #04-08-XXX, awarding Project #04-24 Helium <br />Street/169th Avenue Drainage project to Perm Contracting,, Inc. in the amount of <br />$66,240.00. <br /> <br />CC: 08/10/04 <br /> <br />-299- <br /> <br /> <br />
