CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA Informal meeting was held at the RmnseyMunicipal Center at 7:45 ~.M. on January 16, 1979. The meeting was chaired by Councilman Cox in re- gards to preparing a pre grant application for a Community Block Grant, Present at this meeting were the following citizens: Mr. Ron Jereck Mr. Kenneth Peterson Mr. Dennis Donovan Mr. Marc Hadley Mr. Jack Peterson Mr. Tom Gamec, Mayor Councilman Cox explained to the citizens group that Council had re- quested that he take charge of investigating the City's need for a Community Block Grant and if there was a need for such grant that the City prepare a pre grant application. There was much discussion of a multi purpose arena which would not only serve the~ ~City of Ramsey but surrounding communities. Mr, COx explained that the Council did not want to burden the tax payer with any of the cost of it (arena) operation. Consequently, if the City did go for grant for an arena and it was approved, it would have to be self sufficient. It was then decided that a preliminary investigation woul~be made with communities having such arenas to see how successful they were being operated. The following list of communities were to be visited by mem- bers of this group: 1. City of New Hope Arena 2. City of St. Louis Park Arena 3. Anoka County's Arenas It was also discussed who would prepare the grant application if the City decided to pursue the Community Block Grant. It was recommended that Mr. Bernie Steffans be engaged to perform this task. Mr. COx stated he would seek Council approval~to engage Mr. Steffans. The next meeting was scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
