The purpose of this /elter is to point out the' inequities: in <br />the ~tate's Local Aid formula tO Cities in thb State of MinnesOta, <br /> <br />2). Purpose. The purpose of this letter is to point out the inequities <br />that now'bxist in current StateVs Local Aid Formula and to generate <br />legislation that will correct these inequities, It is felt by the govern- <br />lng body of the City of Ramsey that the local aid dollars [whidi are <br />rived from state income tax, sales tax, etc,) which are returned to the <br />cities should be on a more equitable basis- than is the current practice <br />which, is far from equitable as enclosure ell will point out on a random <br />se]ecti.on of cities, The following is hereby suhmitted for your information <br />and revi~ewl <br /> <br />a) Enclosure C1) contains the following information which points the' <br />enequities to the formula being used by the State of Minnesota to dis', <br />tribute its' local aid to cities; <br /> <br /> 1). Column 1 gives the per capita income for the .cities in <br /> 1935 which was gotten from the Fbderal Revenue Sharing Liaison <br /> offi'ce in St, paul, However, this-is provided as informational <br />"?~7. as it is.'ng~ part of the local aids formula, <br /> <br />2) The information contained in Columns ~2), fi3), [4), and CS) <br />were gotten from Tax Research of the State Revenue Department~ <br />Columr~ ~21 and C3] are used to formulate the local aids-, <br /> <br />31 The /nformation contained in Columns [6). and [71 were de,.. <br />veloped in this. office to point out the inequities in the <br />$~atets Local Aid Formula, <br /> a) Column (~)was'developed by dividing each Of the Cities' <br /> population into the local aids they will receive in calendar <br /> year 197~ wtiich giwes you the per capita dollar, <br /> <br /> bi.
