INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The overriding purpose of this policy plan amendment is to define character- <br />istics of local and regional trails and to provide a plan for regional trails <br />as part of the Regional Recreation Open Space Policy Plan. <br /> <br />The Regional Trail Policy Plan Amendment consists of four parts. Part I <br />includes the definitions and classification of trail systems. Part II con- <br />rains objectives and policies, which are guidelines for the planning and <br />development of the regional trails system. Part ~i~ outlines the system <br />plan including resource qualifications, management, use and physical develop- <br />ment guidelines. The system plan also describes the philosophy and concept <br />of the regional trails system including general corridor locations. Part IV <br />discusses priorities for The acquisition and development or redevelopment <br />funding of Regional Trails. <br /> <br />This proposed amendment will serve as a basis for reviewing regional trail <br />corridors as well as other matters that pertain to trail systems and planning. <br />The amendment also provides a basis for awarding ~cquisition and development <br />grants for regional trails from metropolitan funds. <br /> <br /> <br />
