P&Z-1- 3/5/79 Planning & Zoning City of Ramsey County of Anoka State of Minnesota Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Ramsey City Planning & Zoning Conunission held a Public Hearing on March 5, 1979 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W. Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. Chairman Ken Peterson called the Public Hearing to order at 7'46 p.m. with the following in attendance: Ken Peterson Kathy Schneider Art Dunn A1 Sorteberg A1 so present: Lloyd Schnelle, City Adm. Peter Raatikka, City Eng. Chairman Ken Peterson explained that this was a Public Hearing to consider the request of Geo.rge Diemert III for a COnditional Use Permit to construct a solar type Greenhouse in a R-1 area at 822'T - 151st Lane N.W. Mr. Diemert III explained that this was more of a hobby, and that there would not be any retail sales. Mr. Tom Minor, 8240 151st N.W. asked how about traffic, noise, types of plants, parking, screening, structure height, and if there would be employees, or expansion plans? Mr. Diemert III stated that there would not be any traffic other than himself, and that there would be parking in his driveway or on the dirt drive to the greenhouse. Occasionally he does give tours along with his lecturing (twice a year or so), but that there would be ample parking. The structure is not bad to look at, but Mr. Diemert stated that he would plant poplars, and the height would probably be from 12-13 feet. Mr. Diemert explained that he would be hiring about two youth to help, but that he would have to pick them up as they usually don't drive themselves. Mr. Minor expressed con- cern for his three children,.and Mr. Diemert stated that he has children also and was concern6d for them too. Mr. Diemert stated that the only additional noise would be from a small fan, and that as far as expansion is concerned, it wouldn't pay, and if needed, would relocate. Ken Peterson explained that in such a case, Mr. Diemert would have to come before the commission again. Mr. Tom Sheldon, 5840 159th N.W. asked if the structure would be permanent, and if the plastic would be flapping around. Mr. Diemert stated that it would not be on a cement slab, and that other structures he built over three years ago, have not had the plastic come loose. Art Dunn questioned if a compost would be used, and Mr. Diemert stated that a 3 x 6 enclosed with metal, and no garbage would be used. A1 Sorteberg asked how close the house to the north would be.
