ANOKA-HENNEPIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ~11
RAMSEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL
MARCH 15, 1979

Proposed Schedule Change for 1979 Summer Program

Recommendation:

The Summer Community School Program will be reduced from seven
weeks to six weeks according to the following schedule:

June 11 - June 29
July 2 - July 6
July 9 - July 27

First Three Week Session
No Programs
Second Three Week Session

Rationale:

1)

The regular summer school program has already adopted this
schedule. The above would put the two programs on the same
schedule eliminating some confusion during registration and
coordinating busing efforts.

In past years, attendance at summer programs during the week
of the 4th of July has been very low. Attendance during the
seventh week has also been low because buses are no longer
running.

This drop in attendance occurs district wide, and is usually
40 - 50 per cent. The six week schedule would provide for
more efficient use of staff and reduce staffing costs.

Procedure:

We would like to have this schedule reviewed and approved by
the Park Board and eventually presented to the City Council for
approval. The coordinator will provide as much assistance as
necesary in the presentation to the City Council.
