0UNE 15, 1979 City Council Members A oka, MN 55 03 Dear Sirs, We, the citizens of Ramsey, Minnesota, feel that the trees and their surrounding environment are a major asset to our Community and should be saved at all costs. Therefore, starting with the Variolite Project which takes in the area of 161st Avenue to 173rd avenues Northwest, we request that the City Council do all in their power to follow the present centerline of Variolite in an effort to avoid the loss of any and all trees and shrubs along the existing thoroughfare. We also request that the City Council draft a resolution or ruling that will, in the future, protect the surrounding environment throughout the City of Ramsey. And that any further destruction of trees and environment be the will of the citizens of Ramsey! Furthermore, we request that under Section i!6B.0I of the Minnesota Statutes, titled MINNESOTA ENVIRONMENTAL RIGHTS LAW, we request that that all destruction or alteration of the existing environment in the City of Ramsey, be preceeded by an "Environmental Impact Statement" which should be requested by the Ramsey City Council and it's legal entities. We also request that once the Environmental Impact Statement is in, no action be taken without public notification thirty days in advance of any action by the City Council. Upon the above, we the citizens living along Variolite, from 161st to 173rd Ave. request that an environmental assessment worksheet, followed by an Environmental Impact Statement, be enacted for and of the present Variolite Project. We further believe that there is not enough traffic traveling Variolite, to warrant the magnitude of this project.
