Councilman Mickelson said that most of the speeders live right in the neigh-
borhood. If they do stop for the sign they won't slow down their driving
speed.

Mayor Gamec summed up the Council's general consensus that a stop; sign will not be
put there now and will continue to look at some type of sign control in
other areas out there too. It is not the cost of the sign, but that stop signs are
not mean to "control" speed.
PLA~UE OF APPRECIATION FOR JOHN ZOBAVA

Mayor Gamec presented a plaque of appreciation to Mr. John Zobava, former
member of the Park & Recreation Commission for several years of service
and time he has put in for the City and thanked him for his outstanding
public service in the City of Ramsey.

Mr. Zobava thanked the Council for their recognition and the plaque.

RAMSEY AUTO BODY UMB-2 ZONING

Administrator Schnelle reviewed the UMB-2 zoning with the City Council
and explained that the~e is some misunderstanding on this issue that
needs clarification.

Mayor Gamec said that the property was zoned UMB-2 so that Mr. Aydt
could sell his business forthe same use that he has at present and if he wants
to sell it for anything other than a body ship, then they would have to
get a conditional use or have it rezoned.

Attorney Goodrich said the problem is where he is selling part of the property.

Mayor Gamec said the whole piece of property is zoned UMB-2 as well as the
Gorham property. They were specifically zoned so that the persons who owned
the property could sell their existing business but for that use only.

Administrator Schnelle pointed out that this isn't a permitted.use in a UMB-2
classification.

Councilman Mickelson said that this was an existing business, autobody and
Gorham's was a truss company.

Attorney Goodrich asked if he wants to let him sell his land and not allow
anything but a bodyshop.

Councilman Mickelson said if they go back to the hearing proceedings on the
comprehensive plan, this land was zoned residential and Council pulled it
out because it would have been under a conditional use, and they wanted to
give Mr. Aydt and Mr. Corham the opportunity to see their existing business
for the same use that it was.

Mrs. Aydt said that they also want to sell part of their property and
split it.

Mayor Gamec said as long as it continued to be an auto body the same use, he
could sell it, but Council is concerned that if it was opened up for comnercial
they would have to worry about what kind of business would go in there.
Any other use would have to be under a conditional use permit.

~uly 25, 1979 Regular Council Meeting Page 7
